Joro Boro’s music is best described as EthnoMesh – a textured knot-work of unlikely styles like gypsy dance hall, Balkan gitano brass, Arab turbo dub, resistance ska, grind bhangra, outer latino, favela freak funk.
Former resident of the legendary Mehanata Bulgarian Bar in New York, Joro-Boro plays and promotes Etnoteck – the dirty and uninhibited side of globalization as a forced feed back into a party without borders, a three-day Balkan wedding in a post-national state where noise, libido and bass detonate the market mono-culture. He is a monthly host of MoGlo (Modern Global) on Radio New York WNYE 91.5FM (in partenrship with Seattle’s KEXP), a regular guest at Brooklyn’s Rubulad and Danger parties, and has performed with acts from Balkan Beat Box and Bassnectar to Tinariwen.
Joro-Boro was born in Bulgaria. In New York City he became the resident DJ at Mehanata Bulgarian Bar and was instrumental in creating its underground legendary status. That is, an unorthodox real-deal identity stamp to destroy and forge through all barriers that are political, social, and musical.” (Other Music) Joro-Boro has hosted the premiere parties for Divan (Palinka Pictures) and Holy Land (Cavu Pictures), co-produced the ‘New York Gypsy-Mania’ compilation CD and the New York Gypsy Festival and recently became subject of the documentary ‘Body Without Organs’.
