Presented by Johannes Grenzfurthner of Monochrom, an internationally notorious art-outlaw collective that embraces a unique mixture of proto-aesthetic fringe, pop attitude, subcultural science and political activism.
Their feature presentation, Law and Second Order, will teach you how to create illegal public art in under 5 minutes!
Famed for media hoaxing and organizing festivals for hedonistic robots plus sexy androids, Monochrom have dug into the halls and pockets of ideological establishments and entertainment institutions everywhere since 1993.
Monochrom founded Roboexotica, the first annual festival devoted to mayhem, mixology and cocktail-slinging robots. In Austria they ate blood sausages made from their own blood in order to criticize the grotesque neoliberal formation of the world economy. They released a Soviet Socialist Utopia gaming project, sparked sculpture mobs in Wal-Mart parking lots, buried people alive in Vancouver, San Francisco and Toronto, and cracked the hierarchies of the art system with The Thomann Project.
Monochrom also organizes Arse Elektronika, an annual conference in San Francisco dealing with pr0nnovation (the history of pornography and technological innovation) and featuring speakers such as Mark Dery, Violet Blue and Eon McKai.
The latest works of Monochrom deal with international soul trade, propaganda camps, epic puppet theatre, aesthetic pregnancy counseling, food catering and – we are sorry to say – modern dance.
