Charles Eisenstein is a writer and speaker focusing on the history of human civilization, consciousness, economics, ecology, and human cultural evolution.
He is the author of several books, including Sacred Economics, The Ascent of Humanity, The More Beautiful World Our Hearts Know Is Possible, and Climate: A New Story.
Charles Eisenstein’s writings explore the themes of anti-consumerism, interdependence, and how myth and narrative influence culture. He is considered to be a revolutionary storyteller for his ability to inspire his readers to think outside of the ordinary. Through telling a story of interbeing, his work presents an alternative to the idea that global culture is immersed in a destructive “story of separation”.
His viral short films and essays have established him as a genre-defying social philosopher and countercultural intellectual.
Eisenstein graduated from Yale University in 1989 with a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy and spent the next ten years as a Chinese–English translator.
An advocate of the gift economy, he makes much of his work available for free on his website.
