Arthur Brock builds targeted currencies which shape the social dynamics of our emerging post-industrial economy.
His current focus is launching Holochain, an alternative to blockchain for running fully P2P distributed applications.
He is the Founder and CTO of Holo.Host, a distributed peer-to-peer hosting platform that brings next-generation distributed crypto-apps to mainstream browsers and enables scalable hosting on energy-efficient, consumer-grade devices.
Initially, Arthur put his experience in Artificial Intelligence to use at GM, Chrysler and Hughes, but shifted his focus to building intelligence into social architectures rather than to computers. He discovered from launching student-run schools and award-winning, employee-run businesses that the engine that runs these types of organizations involves specific patterns of incentives and feedback. He began to unlock secrets of the social DNA by which people operate and the critical role of currencies for programming these patterns.
Through the Metacurrency project, Arthur has designed and built and deployed multiple iterations of multi-currency platforms which enable a huge range of configurability for different currency solutions.
Arthur’s designs include currency systems for collaborative scientific research, community-based economic development, business barter and exchange, triple-bottom-line trade credits, open source software development, water rights, arts and culture development, efficient resource sharing & management, and community and environmental impact assessment, among others. He consults worldwide with organizations which are actively restructuring themselves for the new economy.
